National Pet Obesity Awareness Day Survey

Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, but tomorrow everyone gets the opportunity to measure their pet’s waistline to help out the 7th Annual National Survey conducted by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP).

The survey is conducted every year and last year’s survey found 52.5% of U.S. dogs are overweight or obese or approximately 36.7 million.  Yikes!!!

When Ophelia and Bella were a bit chubby.

As a pug owner I am always concern about Ophelia’s weight.  One minute she is skinny, the next she somehow gets into the food cupboard and shoves her little head into the hole of her dog food and eats until she’s full.
Oh wait, she is never full!

Ophelia was "caught in the act."

Ophelia was “caught in the act.”

I’m surprise I don’t see headlines saying, “Another pug died today due to overdose of food,” but it is probably the great pug owners out there keeping a close eye on their pups.

Here are a few videos of pugs getting “caught in the act” and eating their favorite foods.
